Conservation Management Strategies | Fremantle Prison World Heritage Site

Conservation Management Strategies | Fremantle Prison World Heritage Site thumbnail

Dar Studio has been working closely with the conservation team at Fremantle Prison for the past few years to prepare a suite of Conservation Management Strategies (CMSs) for key buildings across the World Heritage Listed site.

This unique opportunity has resulted in nine new CMSs, which each which include an individualised and comprehensively researched historical account of the building, a condition assessment and conservation works schedule, as well as new plans and diagrams including three-dimensional modelling to demonstrate changes over time.

These reports have established a new benchmark at the site for project reporting, and led to the team being engaged in other conservation works projects and studies at the site.

CMSs prepared for Fremantle Prison include:

      • Gatehouse and Entry Complex
      • Main Cell Block
      • Female Division
      • New Division
      • Exercise Yards
      • The Hospital
      • West Workshops
      • Clothes Store & Interview Rooms
      • Perimeter Wall
